Tyler Makes Friends

Over the past few weeks Tyler has acquired some new friends. It started with a hippo. The hippo became his friend when he gave up his passie. Ever since that moment he and all stuffed animals have developed a bond. I noticed that he began showing hippo things that he was interested in like outside while we were traveling (He presses hippo's nose to the window). He will sit hippo down to read while we are doing night night time. He will also make sure that hippo sees all the pages by pressing hippo's nose up against the pages.

The other day he had hippo and all the stuffed animals around his sound machine and he was teaching them about all the different sounds. His friendship with his animals is flourishing and it is so cute to watch.

Our ER Visit

On September 17th, Tyler's school called and asked us to come and get him b/c he was running a fever. We never imagined that we would end up in the Emergency Room before the weekend was over, but it did. Over a two day period his fever went up to 103.5 and I want to say it went up to 104, but it is all a haze and almost long forgotten. Once it hit 103.5 we were told that we should head to the doctor. We were in the local Pri Med, and had just been taken to see the doctor when Tyler began to have a seizure. I was holding this little boy, and all I can remember is feeling speechless and helpless. It was like a dream where you are being hurt and you have lost your voice. Luckily Jamison was there, and he took control of the situation and yelled down the hall for the doctors and nurses. The ambulance was called and I kept thinking to myself, we could have been at the hospital by now since it was just right across the street. I didn't realize that we would have to go the hospital located across town. Since he was so young and the fact that it was a seizure they sent him there. In that case, I was glad that we had to take the ambulance. We would have never made it in the time that they did (Kudos to our ambulance team).

Tyler and I both had our first ride in the ambulance. I couldn't ride in the back with him, and I was very surprised that he didn't pitch a fit being separated from both Jamison and I. He did great.

We arrived at the hospital, received a series of tests including a CT scan and all was clear. It appears that the seizure was caused by the fever. Needless to say he returned to our normal outgoing boy before the night was over. The picture is of us as we were leaving the ER at 11:51 PM.

Tyler and MaMa The Day Before The ER

Tyler How Do You Call A Squirl?

Jamison and Tyler were sitting outside after Thanksgiving dinner, and Jamison was having an enjoyable relaxing time with Tyler. Jamison would ask Tyler where the sky was, and he would point up above. He asked him where the trees where, and he pointed to those as well. He then asked what sound the plane made, and he said NNNeeeeerr. Then he asked him how to call the squirrel. He expected to get a Mmnch Mmnch Mmnch sound, but instead Tyler raised his hand to his ear as if he were holding a telephone and said "Oh" (which is Tyler for hello).

Update

I have risen early this morning and am not at work so I am determined to blog something before Tyler wakes up which is approximately 30 minutes.

Jamison and I broke down and put Tyler in school this year. We decided that it was just going to be impossible to continue with the same schedule this year. I was working in the mornings from home and Jamison was working in the afternoons from home. Last year the schedule was great, but of course Tyler didn't do much for 7 months of his life which was made it real easy to get work done from home. However, once he began to crawl and pull himself up it became a little more difficult.

His likeliness for injury increased with each new step and required me to watch him better. As he became more comfortable with walking, he began to run around the house. Again, chance of injury. Now he likes to climb, and boy is it amazing to see what he can climb.

Anyway, he also needs more attention and we just were not able to give him that attention while we worked at home so we decided to put him in school, and it is working out. He loves school, and I am ultimately getting to spend more time with him. I am at work by 5:30 (Jamison takes him to school) and I get to pick Tyler up at 2:30. I then get to spend time with him from 2:30 till bed time which is between 7:30 and 8. It is definitely exhausting, but it is worth it.
